The Cold City, Episode 6-7

***Starting after the fight with the giant cube**

Leora finds a artifact that allows her to detach her own hand. There is a control panel and Jasmine manages to switch it on. The goo in the pipes start to be pumped up through the tubing. A door opens and Keltek comes limping in holding a saber in one hand. His limp head snaps up, "You were looking for me?"

He starts toward Hector. His sword slices through hector, and a sheath of ice envelops Keitorga. Zole cuts deep into Keltak's shoulder. As Hector injures him again he says, "This form has taken damage." A shodow reaches out of his chest, toward Hector but Hector dodges just in the nick of time. Keltack collapses. 

Zol reveals that that he is Keltec is his brother--he'd become a constable, and Zol became an assassin. But he's an honorable one. He claimed.

The party heads to the library (after spending an incredible amount of time debating what to do with the body of their fallen commrad. Options included dissection for cyphers and disolving so he became part of the datasphere. Ultimately they left it there, after looting the corpse and Zole traded swords with him). There are a couple consules that they begin working on. It powers on and they see a face of a woman. 

"The Kromulack started their slow voyage across the galaxy more than a thousand years ago. They should have arrived by now. They are miners and as they go stripping the world of natural resources. Their progress is slow and inexorable."

"How do we defeat Mosk?"

"They were unable to defeat Mosk. He was banished to an undying planet 10,000 years ago."

How do we keep the atmosphere from killing us humans?

What is the shadow that keeps attacking us?

The shadow served as the natural  protection for the city until they lost control [there was more I didn't get].

Leora is stressed and starts taking her hand on and off. The party saves the final console and heads to the armory. There are many consoles, but most of them are wrecked. Some from time, others have claw marks. One or two are glowing now that power has been restored to the city. There is a large pile of debris in the corner, and it looks like a nest of some sort. As they get gloser a head appears and they see a huge dog with tenticals. Many of the party remember there was one of these guarding The Forge of Dreams. Quin feeds it a cypher, and it starts wagging its tail. She names it Shyfear.

Ketorga realizes that this Armory is not a place where you get weapons, but a place where you become weapons. She decides not to tell, and Jasmine inserts her arm. Jasmine starts to shake as two needles are inserted into her arm and start to rewrite her DNA. She now has six fingers on each hand (not the extra hand). She now also has added speed defense as well. Ketorga decides to tell them, and Zol immediately sticks his arm in as well. (he gets +5 armor against acid, and +2 armor against slicing attacks. His teeth turn completely black). Ketorga sticks her arm in and gets +5 to her might pool--also purple hair. Zol sticks his other arm in. His head goes fuzzy for a moment, and when he comes to he realizes that remembering is difficuly (disability to all mental tasks). He has a ridge of bone down his forehead and his speech is a little slurred. The party heads to the starport. 

In the starport is a huge nightship, which has crashed there and scattered the remains of the other night ships. Above in the dome there is a huge metal iris where ships can go in and out, and there is no damage to the dome. It bears no resemblence to any nightship either there or that the party has seen. It is pocketed with marks, as if having gone through an Iron Wind. Shyfear begins to sniff around with interest as soon as they arrive.

As they come up to the sideo f the huge wrecked ship they find two hatches. Hector climbs up tot he airlock, and after a minute gets it open. The party follows. Hector hears a whisper in her head, "Jasmine is trying to kill you, you should kill her first." The inside of the walls are scored with scratch marks. Medea takes the lead and sees what looks like the remains of a human with a tentical thing coming out of the face plate. The tenticals start to move, and the party reacts quickly. Squidzol responds fastest, demolishing it with a crossbow dart.

Meanwhile Quin finds a different entrance Shyshadow fits through. She finds a small escape pod and four space suits. Also a drone that will help her if she feeds it energy things. 

The rest of the party finds a machine with a dessicated body. They realize that it is a healing machine, and Ketorga decides to try it out on the condition that medea runs it. The machine powers up and her skin starts growing back.

Body with tubes coming out of it. The tubes made the body feed on it's own organs. As Ketorga examines it the tubes detatch and insert into her body. Leora steps forward to detach the tube just as Squidzoll releases a bolt, striking Leora instead.

As the team is reacting to the betrayal of one of their sort-of-own (Squidzol blamed the shot on Leora), a second shadow appears on Medea, Jasmine, and Quin (who is still in the cargo hold). It attacks with icy cold fingers. Leora uses her project light to blind it and Squidzol hits it with his crossbow. Medea also uses her crossbow, causing it to recoil. Quin cries out from the opposite side of the ship, and Squidzoll hears and starts running toward her.

The shadow attacks Ketorga--who was not able to dodge--and Jasmine, who did. (Missed some) Leora, who possesses a shard of the sun, sends a blast of light at the shadow causing it to recoil on itself and dissolve.

As Quin is hacking a shadow to death "FOR THE LOVE OF MY LIFE, KELTACK!" Zoll the Squid-face is running to her rescue and arrives just as the shadow dissolves, She leans on her great sword. "I think I have this handled." He says, "Wait--you were in love with my brother?!?" And then she turns to him and says, "And yeah, you look a lot like him."

The party (minus glaves) continues exploring up a ladder. They keep finding bodies in rooms. All died different ways. One with a plant, one a pink crystal, a partially melted face spider, a suction tube for organs. Cause of death is inconsistent.

Meanwhile Quin and Squidzoll are exploring lower down and they find the heart of the engine of the ship. Everything is dormant, as if it was suddenly turned off. Several of the surfaces are covered with pink crystals. As she examines it she hears a voice, "Zol wants to eat your brain, you should eat his first."

Quin sets her drone to fixing the console, then heads to the next room. She finds a fabricator that will make an item of her choosing. Gate keys, engine parts, swords, with several hours another drone. She sets it to work making a gate key.

Squidzoll finds another corpse up the ladder sitting in the control chair. The body is dessicated, in one hand is a silver orb. The other arm is silvery and the hand is choking the corpse.

Meanwhile the other party starts into the room with the killed-by-a-plant guy. There is a release of spores, but their suits protect them.

Meanwhile Squidzoll decides to find the rest of the party while leaving Quin to fix the console. A woman appears and seems to be inaudibly shouting--what have you done? What are you doing? You have to stop! You can't do this! She shifted into solidity and attacked Quin. Quin did not return the attack, trying to calm the woman. The woman revealed that the whole reason they were there was to stop mosqk. And something the party was doing was going to release him, but before she could explain she flickered and was snatched away.

The rest of the party finds Quin unconscious, and after some debate decide to rest while Hector works on the console and Squidzoll stands guard. Squidzoll hears a voice telling him that powering on the ship is the way to stop mosk. After 9 hours the key is finished. When the rest is over Quinn wakes up and immediately tells them to stop fixing the console.

Hector stops work at the warning, and as he does the console flickers on and he notices the ships log. Looking through it, the most recent one shows someone being killed with a mosk drone. Farther back they see another log telling about the crew picking up a mosk drone that had sent out a distress call.

Meanwhile Quin went downstairs to fetch the key, and returned a few minutes later with both the key and a spinal cord and human brain crystalized in the pink crystal. The party discusses what to do next, and then the pink crystal starts melting into the console. Hector and Medea frantically try to turn off the ship, but as they do so a mosk tentacle comes out of the console and attacks. Medea hits with her whistler. Jasmine's arms both do damage to mosk, but then her mosk arm tries to attack her. She is able to regain control. Hector starts to sing and shatters two more arms. Quin brings her electric staff down on the final tentacle and destroys it. Medea rushes to the door and unlocks it, while HEctor is grabbing a cypher out of his pocket. The party rushes out, Hector standing at the door and throwing his cypher at the control panel. The room is filled with acidc smoke and everything starts dripping down.

The party hurries to the cargo bay, and as they leave suddenly shadows appear--one, two, five, 20, 30. they wash over the party with chilly breath and melt into the walls of the ship. It starts to shudder, then explodes. The party turns and runs.

they. are. looting. our. teammates. corpse. and fighting over who gets the stuff. resolved by who is next in initiative order. I'm not entirely sure the corpse has hit the ground? THEY ARE NOW DISSOLVING THE BODY SO THE DATA SYSTEM REMEMBERS HIM
body has not been officially dissolved. And if it weren't for Richard stepping in, Jasmine would have cut off Keltacs arm to add to her collection.
Richard: "No. There are not cyphers /inside/ his body. You do not need to dissect him."

Zol: So do black teeth make me good at kissing?
Everyone: NO! YOU HAVE AN INABILITY AT KISSING.

Richard: It's true. You won't have to see his forehead ridge or black teeth if he wears the cuthulu mask

Zol: "Hey! I only kill people when I'm /paid/ to kill people. I don't wipe out entire cities."

And hector's weapon makes him sing to use it. He's shooting at the creepy shadows and singing "I see skys of blue.... And I think to myself, what a wonderful world."

Arthur: Yes--I can ask it a question and the topic is "you" whatever "You" I want it to be.
Richard: For example, "Jasmine likes arms."
Jasmine: What?? How did you know??
Richard: Well... you have a third arm. Holding a fourth arm as backup.

Continued from last time

Following the battle the company decides to go to one of the tree houses. Medea explains that the creature had been mind controlled and in exchange for removing the device and seeking revenge it had agreed to go away for 3 suns (or moons?). 4 men are sent to verify the beast was gone, and then the company is invited up into the tree house, where they rest.

the party comes across a very large hole, and they are pretty certain it is the burrow of the monster they just spoke to. Near there is a tree

Medea and Keltac approach the hole in the side of the tree. 5 feet inside there is a recessed portal. There are three dials. Medea attempts to unlock the door using the dials, but fails. Hector attempts as well, but it does not work for him either. Jasmine begins siphoning energy off the door while Hector looks through the door. He realizes that it takes three tries to open the door, and quickly stops Jasmine. Medea tries to open the door one more time. She is electrocuted, but the door opens.

Inside there is a hall 20X60 feet. Every 2-3 feet down the corridor there is an elatticurid severed head with expressions of twisted horror. There are boards that are laid down the middle of the hall, and it sounds like there is nothing under them. As the party passes the heads begin screaming. The slowly quiet as the party passes.

Inside the next room is a large form lying on the ground. It is a twisted combination of flesh and metal. It looks like a marionett with cut strings. It is grasping a long swordstaff in its hand.

Quin attemts to take the swordstaff from the creature, but it is gripped too hard. As Jasmine tries to sneak past, the creature awakes. Jasmine manages to dodge past and down the stairs on the far end. Quinn is not so fast.

Boo reads the creatures mind and nearly throws up. "Whatever that is, it's in a lot of pain."

Jasmine goes down the stairs and finds a priest with the body of a young elacturid woman who has been beheaded. He is wiring her head to a Grue panel. There are about 6 other bodies standing around. Jasmine holds her knife to the wire, "Call off your beast!"

The swordstaff swings down on Hector. As Keltak stabs the creature his sword gouges into one of the skills and he is overwhelmed by feelings of pain of being beheaded while still conscious. Hector can't stand the screaming heads, and tries (unseccussfully) to leave.

Jasmine starts talking to the priest. He says that he is trying to attain perfection by combining the two races--heads of Gru with bodies of elacterids.

Quin has delt the most damage to the Gollum, and eventually manages to kill it. they join JAsmine downstairs. Jasmine manages to carry on a great conversation and it turns out that the priest has a key to the cold city he doesn't mind loaning to them. They take the key and leave, promising to return in.

The Stone Trees (5)

The company gathers around the port near the front of the ship for a very brief memorial for Aunt Cassandra. (Type it up)

Jasmin begins studying the orbs in the very front of the ship and realizes it is the control center of the ship--the bridge.

Hector studies the navigation system and realizes that the ship is on the way to Naharrai. It will take another day to day and a half to arrive. Hector examines the Aunt Cassandra's sword and learns some interesting things about it.

The ship arrives at Naharrai. There are great oceans and forests. The nightcraft enters the atmosphere and approaches a very large city covered by a glass dome. Leora is left in charge of the ship with a headache, and Keltak leads the way out of the ship.

Suddenly they hear a shreak and a strange creature comes running across the land. Three creatures, a cross between a crab and a bobcat are pursuing him. Medea and Jasmin attack one of the bobcats. Hector shouts "For Aunt Cassandra!" And cuts two of the crustation legs off. The strange creature notices Kelteck and freaks out. He pops open his chest cavity and places a gem inside. As Keltak resists he sees a picture of Araboo stepping through a wall of light flanked by two priests. Keltak punches him.

Quin kills the uninjured CrabCat. Kietorga finishes off one of the injured ones. Jasmine pulverizes the final one with her forearm blade.

The party turns their attention to Keltak and Boo. After gagging them both and threatening general pain of pain, they learn that Boo was being pursued by Keltak years ago.

After Medea and Keltak wretch behind a rock, Boo informs them that this planet is posionus to humans. The company decides to continue to the city quickly to learn what they can learn. It takes a key to open, and Boo tells them about a temple and a rocky area. They decide to go to the temple despite Boo's protest.

Quinn and Keltak and Boo notice several blurs following the party. Boo warns Jasmine. Jasmine slashes one with a knife, then cuts Boo free. In the flurry of battle Boo teleports away from the fight and lands on the other side of a dune, just in front of two tall blue skinned creatures with computer screen faces. Boo casts stasis on them, first one than the other.

The party is tangled in the fight and not doing well. Hector, Quin, and Medea attempt to break away unsuccessfully.

"Halt in the name of international peace!" The handfull of creepy guards surround the party. After a brief conversation, they decide to take them to see Priest 995. The party agrees. Boo, meanwhile, wrapped in a rug, is sneaking aboard the ship--rather unsuccessfully--trying to sneak up to the only entrance.

When the children are born their heads are removed and replaced with the consciousness of one of the old ones.

Priest 755 was sent to spy on the tree homes and has never returned. He needs help finding/rescuing the priest. The party manages to offend the priest, and he dismisses them from his presence rather forceably. They sit and talk on the pavilion for an hour, and decide to go on the mission anyway in an attempt to gain favor.

Hector talks to one of the priests on the pavilion. She tells him about the Ellaticurids, another race that lives on the world who is brutal and murderous. The human city is named Arthurine(??). The party continues on to the Tree homes.

Each tree is 600-800 ft tall, and about 80 ft in diameter. In various places on the trees there are vents--5-8 ft in diameter. It has about 1000 people. Over some of the vents are balloon like sections of fabric. As the party continues a group of about 9 Ellaticurids surrounds them. At the same time a Moszk tentical sprouts out of Jasmine's back and attacks her. She is able to gain control of it.

The party talks to the Ellaticurid party. Garen is the captain. They learn that there is a preditator out that is taking their children at night. Garen tells them to find a safe place to go. They request shelter, and he agrees reluctantly but they will not be allowed inside. He shouts to his lutenant that he is bringing back some bate.

A quick consultation and the party decides to use the back-in-time-viewer. They watch the three men from last night. The first one suddenly is thrown back by an invisible force. It's tenticals move in behind the guards, and "melt" them. Quinn realizes that there is a collar that may be controlling the animal.

The Boo thinks up an idea to combine a Spatial Warp device with a Machine control implant to block the control collar.

The worm appears. Medea manages to hit it with her needler and slow it down. Jasmine passes the device to Hector, and in a moment of pure brilliance Hector is able to throw the device perfectly onto the beast's collar. The beast charges for Medea, but she is able to dodge. Keitorga is not as lucky and her armor is burned away by acid.

Boo starts a conversation. The creature was enslaved and forced to take the blue people to the fallen tree. Boo agrees to remove the device, in exchange for a promise to not eat us or the blue people. We also are to seek vengance on him.

Starfish (incomplete)

The company decides to go to find Boaz. After talking to an Aon Priestess they head to the councel chamber to see if Boaz is there. He is not, but the counsel is meeting. The company passes along what they learned--Agent Rast is involved

Boaz does not believe the nightship will help, as it was designed to operate in Space.

Keltek suggests fixing Moszk's Nightship and using it to fly the city away.

They head to Hector's aunt, Cassandra's, house.  She tells them stories about her youth. The traveled with the Red Fleets. Salian Orse was the pirate leader. Upon leaving they notice several  aon priests studying the ground down the block. There were swells. Hector and Madea recognize them from the Ba Adenu Forest.

Jasmine successfully attempts to sciphon power, but the creature comes out half formed and attacks. The party dispatches the spider by working together. At the end Jasmine attempts to siphon power one more time, and although she does kill the spider she is hurt.

Five more spiders hatch. Medea examines the dead one and realizes that they are being "teleported" from a facility somewhere outside the city. It is crude imitation of the BaAdenu forest. They are mindless drones programmed to kill.

The party is embroiled in battle more or less taking damage and dealing it out. Out of the smoke Aunt Cassandra appears, slashing the spiders right and left. She orders the party to follow her. It takes them a moment to disengage, and then they quickly follow. She darts to one of the pillars and shoots a grapple gun type of Numinera up to the top. She begins climbing and they quickly follow.

At the top Hector quickly adapts a numinera device, drops it over the side, and it explodes--killing 200 of the spider creatures.

Cassandra hurrues the companions along to the priest's of Aon's pillar. There they find Boaz with the Forge of dreams. He has considered, and believes the using the forge of dreams to power the broken ship may be their last hope. Boaz accompanies the party to the counsel, and attempts to persuade them of the plan. (They had not been aware of Moszk or the nightship before).

Concerned that the vote would not go their way, Mad Jasmine put on a posioned glove to make him more ammenable to her ideas. Stroking his cheek she told him that if they surrendered or parlayed with Lady Feala Lorin they would die. He is completely entranced. The vote goes for Boaz.

They return to the Aon Priests pillar, and descend with the Forge of dreams into Moszk's ship. They account for the gravity change and transport the forge of dreams to the Room of Records. He tells them that he cannot stand much longer, and asks what they have brought.

They present the Forge of dreams, Moszk accepts it and the nanos and the specialized Jacks successfully adapt it to his ship. Moszk seems to come out of the hollogram screen and stands in the room with them. "Thank you for your service" He says to the Priests. And then vaporizes them.

Cassandra leaps forward to protect the company. "Run! I will hold him off." Medea and a few others dart out toward the Nightship, the remaining company--including Hector--unwilling to leave Cassandra, begin battle. Moszk is spawning more of himself each second, and

Under Nights Helm

They started through the right tunnel and came to a sliding metal door. The control seems to be broken, so Madea fixes it.

Inside, they find the room again upside down. There is a big clear pillar in the middle, along with some work shelves on the sides. A Big, hulking, metal figure stands there. His arms are two shields, and he has two knives as arms. He says in a robotic voice, "How dare you defile the chamber of Mosck."

Leora attempts to show him the medallion, but instead he charges. Jasmine siphons his power, The others attempt to attack it, but all fail to cause any appreciable damage. The robot stabs at both glaves, Quinn deflects, but hector is stabbed in the gut. Hector activates a cypher that will disable electronics. Medea jumps on the robots back.

Leora uses numinera and realizes that the robot is stuck on loop of it's last program, and was probably damaged by a nano. She calls the information to Medea, on the robots back.

The attacks continue, the company making no damage on the robot. The robot phases and solidifies with it's sword in Quin and Jasmine. They are injured. Medea quickly works on the damaged head, and the robot suddenly stands still.

We learn that the big clear thing is a reactor for the blue crystal we just came down.

We find a door on the sides of the reactor chamber, but which the eon Priests called the Guardd Chamber. They enter into the Twisted Tunnel. Again there are light fixtures along every 10-15 feet on the floor. Laora lights them with her touch as she passes. Suddenly all the adventurers find themselves shooting up to the ceiling as gravity switches. The ceiling becomes the floor, and the floor the ceiling--the light fixtures are now in their proper places.

At a T in the tunnel the explorers argue over which way to go. They did not get clear enough directions from Boas, and didn't know which way to go. After fiddling oddly with her fingers Jasmine walked to the right. Everyone except Quinn and Hector decide to go right.  We look in to a very large room--100-200 feet. There are several birdlike shapes, or manta ray, and we begin to think that when Boaz said "Vessel" he may have meant things that can be ridden or flown in. They all appeared to be wrecked as if from an explosion. One vessel does not seemed wrecked, and the hatch is open. Jasmine marches up inside the vessel.

Keltack runs back to find the others to let them know that the room of Vessels was found, and they decide to rejoin the others instead of exploring the other room.

The midnight Templars are a group of priests dedicated specifically to studying the "night" or "space"

The inside of the ship seems very comfortable. There are couches and some orbs floating in the air. Along the ceiling in the control bridge there are complex wires and controls. In the middle there is a red synth keyboard thing. There are seven pillars filled with rolling gas--the ships engine. In another part of the ship there are several sleeping chambers--they would fit a human but seem to be designed for something larger. There is something that looks like a shower, with an orb suspended.

As the company is looking for cyphers, Jasmine grabs an orb and attempts to syphon it's power. She is thrown back because it is too powerful. Again.

Hector examines the red synth _____ he realizes this is the weapon control. Up to 4 people can man the weapons. It has a range of about 20 miles.

Medea looks at the control panel realizes that it is a communication panel that allows for telepathic communication with one person at a distance of up to 100 miles. (level 5 communication ray)

Quin accidentally bumps a panel in he ship and discovers a hidden compartment full of different five canisters. She stuffs them in her bag. She takes them to the nanos, and they realize it is for coating any living being in an organic night (space) suit. It would process the air and protect frm the void of space. Quin gives them Medea, Hector, Jasmine, Keitorga, and kept one for herself.

Jamine checks out the shower. There is a vibrating sensation, and all the dirt on her body falls off. Several of the others also shower.

The company leaves the ship and heads down the tunnel at the other side of the chamber. We come to the second guard room. Inside there is a large console, but it is not a control panel. Jasmine marches right in. The console flickers to life, and displays a robotic starfish shape. "Welcome, Travelors."

Before the creature can continue, Keltak bows down to it. He continues bowing through the entire conversation.

"You have come a long way to see me. What is it that you want? I am Mosck. I am the intelligence that inhabits this Night Ship. I crashed here many years ago. The midnight templars have been helping me with that, and I have helped the people of Evernight with power in return."

We ask about the dead pillar.

"You mean one of my propolsion arrays? Something must have gotten past my security. If I loose another I won't be able to continue protecting Evernight. If you head back through the other direction, and take the other turn, it will take you to another guarded chamber. If you can stop the sabatures, I will see what can be done about the damaged--what did you call it?--pillar."

He also tells us that the ship crashed upside down, hence the artificial gravity.

We return to the other chamber. On the floor is the remains of the guardian. His armor hasbeen taking. Around the center of the room we can see that the reactor is damaged, and a piece is obviously missing. Hector realizes that it is a magnetic capacitor. It helps to retain the reactor field. Without it, the reactor field will quickly destabilize, possibly explosively.

The company decides to adapt Keitorga's magnetic shield to take the place of the magnetic capacitor. Leora begins work on it, with Medea's help. After she starts work the wall behind her flickers out of phase. In come three figures, on one side is Adjuct Rast, on the other is ___, and they are lead by Karner, who is wearing the Guardian's armor.

Keltak says, "You may have a tail, but I have frog eyes! HA!" Quin insults his hair.

Adjunct Rast looks at them. "Karner, kill them."

Karner attacks Keltak first, but misses by a little. He also aims at Keitorga with his bladed staff, but she dodges. The nano attacks Leora, and she sits up frozen, unable to continue. MEdea starts working around her. Agent Rasct attacks Quin, but she parries the attack.

Kietorga hits the nano with a dart in the side of the head. He raises a hand and says a word, and there is a blast of red energy that hits Kietorga in the chest. (there are other attacks, but all dodged.)

Karner jumps toward Quin and Keltak, phasing out and then phasing in when he hits them. They are badly hurt. Recoiling in pain and fury Keltak stabs at Karner, but it doesn't do as much damage as it should have because Karner is wearing the Guardians Armor.

Agent Rast sprays Jasmine with something, and it makes her limbs feel heavy. She starts to slow down.

Quin uses her bladestaff on the nano, and cuts Karner deeply. Hector does mental onslot, and causes Karner to stagger back.

Jasmine attempts to attack Karner with the metal drill, but he is able to dodge. Despite so many spent XP. Quin dodges an attack, Hector is frozen by the nano.

Leora comes out of her trance and starts working with Medea on the device.

Ketorga hits the nano in the eye with her dart gun. Etolas pulls the dart out of his head, "You aren't paying me enough for this!" The wall shimmers and the three of them leave.

Medea, with Leora's help, is able to finish the device and the control panel comes to life.

Jasmine uses her wall phaser and unphases the wall in pursuit of the three. There is a narrow room with an open door. we go through the door. Head down the hallway, and the leave the gravity field and fall toward the ceiling--which is actually the floor. Jasmine starts to land hard, but Keltac grabs her before she hurts herself.

The party comes to an area where the light fixtures are all glowing. They realize they are near thebegining. After a quick consultation, they decide to go back to Moszk.

He gives them thanks, and they inquire about the ship. The previous operators communicated through color shifts and hand signs. He plans to scrap it for parts eventually, but considers the request of the party and says that he will give it to them if he ever gets the hangar door open. HE suddenly says, "Oh-the city is under attack. I must go." And disappears.

The party returns to the rope and all successfully ascent the 300 feet to the top. They hear massive explosions outside. The priests enclave seems to be deserted. Out over the plane leading to the city we see hundreds of large mechanical spiders, and they are shelling the settlement. Hundreds of bombs are being aimed at the settlement, and with each hit the protective field shimmers.
